Job Summary: |
The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Quality Assurance Director to oversee the optimization of healthcare delivery to the incarcerated prison population at the Arizona State Prison complexes. The Quality Assurance Director, will be responsible for promoting the culture of continuous learning and improvement throughout the organization. The primary responsibility for this position is to ensure the Contract Healthcare Provider (CHP) has a robust quality improvement strategy aligned with the goals and objectives ADCRR has established. This includes ensuring that the CHP develops and maintains Continued Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and documentation, as well as conducting root cause analysis efforts and implementing corrective actions.
Job Duties: |
-Leads and mentors a team with a variety of backgrounds in correctional healthcare, including nursing, clinical coordination, data analysis, and administration
-Responsible for chart reviews to determine the appropriateness of clinical care, which serve as benchmark to measure the effectiveness of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process and outcome studies
-Ensures the team’s alignment with the overall quality strategy, providing guidance, support, and training to team members
-Develops a monitoring program and provides oversight of the Contract Healthcare Provider (CHP) in the implementation of CQI studies, consistent with the ADCRR Health Services Technical Manuals (HSTMs), National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) Standards, and the Federal Court Injunction
-Creates processes to evaluate errors and system problems
-Identifies and creates preventable adverse event reporting systems and other sources
-Collaborates with ADCRR’s Deputy Assistant Director or designee
-Updates on CQI study development and progression at each of the Arizona State Prison Complexes
-Provides recommendations on updates to existing clinical practice guidelines and policies and procedures as assigned
-Performs other duties as assigned related to the position

-Principles and practices of correctional health care management and supervision as set forth by the United States Constitution, the NCCHC, and the American Correctional Association
-Personnel and administrative procedures, federal laws and state laws relative to licensed and/or certified health care staff, as well as general staff

-Laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to the privatization and administration of inmate medical, mental health and dental care
