Job Summary:

The Chart of Accounts Analyst is required to maintain a direct, confidential working relationship with Grants, Cost and Reporting Manager and Comptroller in the Division of Finance and Accounting, Office of Accounting.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Analyzes and provides recommendations for creating and maintaining chart of account structure for the agency. Advises on proper accounting for expenditure and reports on revenue and expenditure. Establishes tables of accounts and assigns dependency and validation for all chart of accounts elements.
  • Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards by using Data mart and Info Advantage applications. Creates and modifies ad-hoc and standard reports per request.
  • Uses automated accounting systems and applications to retrieve and review data files, analyze information, track revenues and/or expenditures, and analyze contracts status in regard to funding profile setups.
  • Develops, implements, modifies, and documents record-keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Through general ledger monthly reconciliation, processes surveys operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems. Ensures internal control is maintained by addressing outstanding transactions and escalating as appropriate. Serves as the primary back-up for the Cost Allocation Analyst position.

  • Fiscal principles and practices
  • Analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of government business
  • Internal control structures, and fiscal management
  • Methods and techniques of automated financial systems
  • Reference materials such as federal regulations, Arizona Revised Statutes, applicable agency manuals, and policies and procedures
  • Working financial research methodologies

  • Using automated accounting and spreadsheet processes to create, develop, monitor and reconcile fiscal records and reports
