Job Summary: |
The State of Arizona Board of Executive Clemency (AZBOEC) is currently seeking a Case Analyst to assist in the Board’s commutation, pardon and parole hearing preparation; track case statistics, monitor trends and prepare reports; assist with agency administrative operations; process public records requests, inmate or other public inquiries; and participate in other projects and pending initiatives.
Job Duties: |
• Commutations: Review incoming applications, Research missing information, Write case summaries, Final prep of packet, Respond to status inquiries
• Case Statistics: Maintain monthly case statistics, Assist with annual report data, Monitor trends in workload and prepare reports for Board, Analyze case data, Assist in responding to requests for fiscal impact of new legislation
• Pardons and Absolute Discharges: Review incoming applications, Write case summaries for Pardons, Submit criminal history, Final prep of packet, Prepare binder for Governor
• Legislation and Public Records: Assist in gathering information for legislative inquiries, Assist in responding to complex public records requests
• Serve as backup: Back up clerk duties, Back up office coverage (phones and mail), Back up victim notification, Back up records requests
• Paroles: Research missing information, Research eligibility reason for 1st time certifications, Write case summaries
• Process Incoming Inmate Mail: Respond to inquiries and maintain records of correspondence
• Public Speaking: Conduct presentations to various groups and agencies
• Board Website: Update and maintain information on BOEC website
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge:
• Advanced knowledge of Google Suite platforms (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Meet)
• Possess a broad vocabulary to convey meaning effectively and demonstrate attention to detail
• Knowledge of the laws, rules, procedures, and terminology applicable to the assignment
• Understanding the rules of grammar, punctuation, and capitalization to ensure clarity
• Knowledge of the criminal justice process and of criminal court records
• Understanding of various methods for analyzing data

Selective Preference(s): |
Required:
• This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field
• Minimum five years work experience in the criminal justice system
Preferred:
• Preference will be given to candidates who have earned a Master's Degree or Juris Doctor degree
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11)
• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment
