Job Summary:

As the Senior System Administrator for the Information Technology section, the incumbent will work independently under general supervision:
· Deploys, inventories, and maintains MacOS and IOS client platform equipment in life cycle tasks, including end-of-life tasks such as data cleansing. Uses ticketing system to track issues.

· Proactively solves complex problems for application and network issues of telecommuters, local networks users, and remote park network users. Provide technical help desk assistance and documentation for agency staff, and provides direct application administrative support for Google Workspace for all agency users.

· Provides user directory and authentication management with tools such as as Okta, Duo, Active Directory, and Open Directory. Conducts daily traffic analysis, identifies and characterizes incidents, generates incident reports, and investigates suspicious network activity.

· Installs, monitors, and directs proactive and reactive computer network defense measures using tools such as zScaler and Crowdstrike Falcon to ensure the availability, integrity, confidentiality and reliability of systems.

· Mobile Device Management (MDM) Platform hardening and remote configuration using JAMF of MacOS and IOS computer/phone deployments and archives, including backup of user data with local or cloud backup software, along with management of archives.

· Will maintain a Cloud-based AWS Oracle database and an associated historic property and archeology application, including but not limited to authentication, backups, space management and licensing. This includes Geographic Information System components and integration, and may require data exports to other partner agencies.

· Will maintain a Cloud-based AWS PostgreSQL database and an associated historic property and archeology application, including but not limited to planning, authentication, backups, space management and licensing. This includes Geographic Information System components and integration, and may require data exports to other partner agencies.

· Maintenance and support of Claris FileMaker Pro databases, along with database and form application maintenance tasks.

· Provide IT technical expertise to management and staff, which includes frequent audio-visual assistance for meetings and conferences.

· Provide application and computer operations support. May assist with troubleshooting production problems and recommends/implements solutions.

· Provides purchasing, inventory, and budget tracking for purchased stock and system inventories of items.

· Travel to parks as required. Overnight stays as required.

Job Duties:

- Install and maintain client devices in a statewide remote site network involving over 325 client devices. Maintain links to internet services, Google services, and file sharing services. Support reservation system point-of-sale, accounting and productivity software. Will require travel to park locations throughout the state.

- Troubleshoot and resolve Parks central office and remote Park system problems with hardware, software and network performance. Support Google Workspace, and provide direct support of technical issues. Conduct daily traffic analysis, identifies and characterizes incidents, generates incident reports and investigates suspicious network activity. Installs, monitors and directs proactive and reactive computer network defense measures to ensure the availability, integrity, confidentiality and reliability of systems. Implement security measures to protect data, manage user access, and ensure data confidentiality and compliance. Define and document database policies, standards, and procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.

- Maintain and monitor agency’s Oracle, PostgreSQL and FileMaker databases and servers. Maintain licensing, coordinate installation, administer and integrate system solutions. Install, upgrade, and manage database systems, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and optimal performance through monitoring and tuning.

- Inventory tracking and procurement of hardware/software agency IT operations, including budget tracking throughout the State fiscal year.

- Monitor network performance, adjust to ensure minimal down-time. Design and modify security and user access controls. Ensure compatibility of hardware, software and system interfaces.

- On-Call Support: Provide support to address critical production issues outside standard business hours.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
· Proficiency of device client deployment using JAMF and MDM device management, and remote technical support.
· Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and performance tuning.
· Strong understanding of database management systems (DBMS) Oracle, PostgreSQL, FileMaker and SQL language. Relational database data technologies and concepts.
· Expertise in SQL for query optimization and data manipulation.
· Proficiency with operating systems and shell scripts of Unix, BSD, MacOS and Windows in conjunction with server and client deployment, security and management.
· Proficiency with Google Workspace and Google data archiving.
· Proficiency with mobile device deployment and support, such as with iPhones and IOS.
· Knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including techniques for event streaming.
· Knowledge of the operation, function and structure of Local Area Network and 7-layer OSI model.
· Knowledge of client and server equipment, software and support lifecycles
· Knowledge of Reservation System operations and applications
· Knowledge of the OSI (Open Systems) model for network communication, configuration and operation of firewalls, servers, workstations, thin clients, mobile devices on a TCP/IP network with VLAN’s and cellular providers.
· Detailed knowledge of major Windows and Macintosh productivity and graphics software and their applicability to business solutions.
· Knowledge of training methods and information structuring.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field, with 3 years experience, or 7 or more years of work experience in systems administration and database administration.
