The Department of Economic Security, Division of Business Services, Office of Professional Development is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instructor, supporting the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). This position delivers in-person instructor-led training throughout the state, which requires this position to be client-facing in training qualified vendors who instruct their teams that provide DDD services. The Instructor is responsible for, but are not limited to: delivering training; facilitating development activities; ensuring quality of training delivery and materials being presented; providing mentoring and coaching to DDD staff as necessary; coordinating with business partners and customers to meet organizational training needs; providing facilitation services as needed; assisting with course development; and completing other projects as requested by the supervisor or Training Manager.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Train division staff around the state on DDD topics by preparing to train course content, such as learning new material, attending in-person, and facilitating Train the Trainer workshops that include assisting other trainers with physical demonstrations, gathering materials, traveling to class sites state-wide, and setting up training facilities; providing reports on training delivery (student evaluations, attendance); and facilitating meetings, workshops, and other synchronous learning and development activities.
● Prepare to present in-person and online training classes, including learning new materials, attending Train the Trainer workshops, gathering materials, traveling to class sites, and setting up training facilities, etc.
● Perform routine administrative tasks involving status reports, project plans, and correspondence; in-person and virtual attending meetings; serve on committees and teams; attend training and professional development classes and workshops; and serve on committees and work-groups.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:

● Computers, Google Gmail and Calendar, and Microsoft Office products.
● Writing (grammar, punctuation, spelling, proper syntax, proper sentence structure).
● Adult learning principles.

Skilled in:

● Customer service.
● Interpersonal relations.
● Oral and written communication (writing/composition).

Ability to:

● Adaptability.
● Manage conflict.
● Work independently.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

● Bachelor's degree or higher in an applicable subject area such as Human Resources Development, Adult Education, Psychology, English, or a similar field.
● One year of experience training adult learners as a full-time trainer responsible for instruction and group/team facilitation.
● Currently an Article 9, and Prevention and Support Instructor.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

● This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer physical exam.
● This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business; then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
● Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
● All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State-sponsored retirement contribution plan, and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
