DEPT OF EMERGENCY AND MILITARY AFFAIRSThe Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by The Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of three sections—operations, preparedness, and financial administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States military. The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions. |

| Job Summary: |
This position provides basic cleaning service for Arizona Army National Guard buildings: Dormitory rooms, Administrative Offices, Classrooms, medical examination rooms (Non Bio-Hazard), and associated Hallways. Includes entrances, stairwells, all common areas, including public restrooms, laundry rooms, game rooms, lounges, and maintain outside walkways and grounds. Supervises inmate labor to assist in cleaning duties. Coordinates cleaning efforts with contract custodial personnel. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.
| Job Duties: |
Responsibilities include:
• Cleans hard surface floors by wet mopping, stripping residue or spotting and buffing. Vacuums floors as needed and spot cleans carpet areas with cleaning agents.
• Clean restrooms, toilets, floors, chrome fixtures and mirrors using cleaning agents.
• Empties and disposes of waste from all offices and dormitory rooms. Collects and disposes of waste, refills dispensers.
• Dust and polish furnishings in offices and dormitory rooms.
• Maintain records for cleaning supplies used and on hand. Maintains inventory of cleaning equipment used for cleaning.
• Cleans outside areas and all common areas.
• Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and ballasts in lights
• Collect dirty bedding and towels and washcloths. Prepares linens for dormitory rooms, linen exchanges and vendor pick-up.

Knowledge of:
• Cleaning procedures, sanitation safety and "Right to Know" program.
• Operation and maintenance of powered cleaning equipment.
• Cleaning agents and chemical reaction when solutions are mixed.
• Basic grounds keeping, methodology and plant life maintenance.
• DEMA building security procedures.
Skilled in:
• Effective use of powered cleaning equipment.
• Application of cleaning methods and techniques.
• Rotating and storing cleaning supplies.
• Positioning self to avoid injury when lifting heavy objects.
Ability to:
• Manage and organize time.
• Oversee work processes.
• Record and report supplies used and required as well as equipment.
• Communicate both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
• Effectively work with minimum security inmate personnel.
• Work with little or no immediate supervision.
| Selective Preference(s): |
1 year minimum experience as a Custodial Worker I. The preferred candidate should have any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special Job Requirements:
• This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid Arizona state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
• In State travel required.
• Individual is required to pass a criminal background investigation.
• Must be willing and able to supervise DOC minimum-security inmates.
