The Department of Public Safety is seeking an experienced Red Hat Systems Administrator to maintain and support multiple servers and applications used at DPS. This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list for current and future vacancies. The Red Hat Administrator will be required to monitor and manage multiple virtual Red Hat servers running in a VMware environment; manage and monitor SAN technologies for external storage capacity; develop & maintain documentation reflecting the current operational environment; integrate system monitoring using multiple products; plan and implement firmware/management releases and security updates; ensure redundancy is functional for all critical components; confirm adequate file backup for all recovery scenarios; review system logs for errors or potential problems; monitor and review system alerts for software and hardware errors and take corrective action; interpret firewall logs for port and network flow communication.
