Job Summary:Student applicants are encouraged to follow up with the Department Contact listed above regarding the status of their submitted application. Student positions are filled each semester on a need-to-hire basis. Applicants are reviewed whenever the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy; the review of applications typically ends once all available positions are filled. Student employees are involved in a range of meaningful activities, including learning how energy-consuming equipment and processes work, analyzing utility bills to establish baseline energy usage, and calculating energy, cost, and carbon savings. Under the guidance of program faculty, each student participates in approximately two to three assessments per semester, where they help identify and quantify energy-saving opportunities for clients. Students also collaborate with facility personnel to plan assessments, conduct site visits, and prepare professional reports that summarize findings and recommendations. The assessment process includes a pre-assessment meeting with plant personnel, an on-site visit to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and operational improvements, and a post-assessment phase that involves data analysis, working with utility providers for financing options, and preparing a final report. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process. |
