Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#107150) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will have scholarly expertise in Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education (RUME) and discipline-based education research in calculus or related subfields. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Pursue an active research agenda in undergraduate mathematics education.
- Develop and implement a high-quality plan for a funded research program in undergraduate mathematics education.
- Mentor doctoral students in completing dissertation projects within the Mathematics Education Concentration of the PhD Program in Mathematical and Sciences Education.
- Teach undergraduate mathematics courses and graduate mathematics education courses aligned with the candidate's areas of interest, background, and research.
Required Education
A terminal degree in mathematics education, mathematics, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

- Track record of interacting creatively, collaboratively, and productively with multiple, diverse audiences.
- Record of or potential to coordinate research-based instructional supports in the calculus sequence at the department level.
- Record of or potential to publish high-quality work in the field of mathematics education.

- Evidence of implementation of research-based, high-quality teaching.
