Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategic Planning: Set and articulate the vision and goals for the Center for Writing, Reading, and Communications (CWRC). Develop and expand student programming across the college. Collaborate with the Dean of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education, as well as department chairs, to coordinate academic support services. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to promote CWRC services and ensure they meet the needs of the academic community. Support writing across the curriculum (WAC) initiatives and provide targeted outreach to all academic divisions. Stay current on trends in higher education, writing centers, and artificial intelligence to ensure services are innovative, effective, and continuously assessed.
Staff Supervision and Operations: Recruit, hire, and train all part-time tutors; direct the tutor training program and recruitment strategy. Supervise full-time and part-time staff, coordinators, and student workers; coordinate all scheduling. Oversee the administrative operations of the CWRC, ensuring alignment with the mission, goals, and policies of the LCTCS, the College, and the Division. Ensure consistency in practices across all campuses and sites; conduct regular site visits and provide updates on CWRC services and performance. Work with the Director of Research to collect, analyze, and report relevant data; use data to illustrate the impact and reach of CWRC services.
Program Development and Outreach: Expand academic support services and programming college-wide. Design and implement robust marketing strategies and innovative student outreach initiatives.
Resource and Facilities Management: Maintain an up-to-date inventory of lab spaces and coordinate equipment maintenance with staff. Research and apply for grant funding to enhance lab spaces and student access, including DCC STEP grants. Regularly update and maintain CWRC resources and materials, including the website and the appointment software.
Institutional Engagement: Participate in faculty and staff meetings; serve on departmental, divisional, and college-wide committees. Serve as a member of the Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education leadership team.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the college.
Required Education: 8-10 years of related work experience
Required Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in an academic administrative supervisory position with college teaching experience and/ or writing center experience.

Preferred Education: Master's degree in English, education, or related field and/or Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Linguistics, or related field
Preferred Experience: Minimum of five (5) or more years experience directing college Writing Center/academic support labs with teaching experience.
