Job Summary 

The Production Planner lll is responsible for ensuring the site has the resources, visibility, and planning discipline needed to meet customer demand and operational commitments. This role provides advanced analysis, insight, and decision support to translate demand signals into achievable production plans while balancing capacity, inventory, and lead‑time objectives. Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program Management, the Production Planner lll serves as a key contributor to the S&OP process and a trusted advisor on operational feasibility, risk, and long‑range planning. The role requires strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Analyze internal production capacity by work center to identify gaps versus demand and provide lead‑time guidance based on real‑time availability.  

  • Maintain, and report against the monthly capacity plan across all product lines, including measuring production attainment to plan and escalating critical variances.  

  • Lead the capacity‑planning portion of the S&OP process and present capacity constraints, risks, and recommendations during quarterly S&OP meetings.  

  • Maintain a healthy order backlog to support a stable and accurate near‑term demand signal.  

  • Monitor inventory levels and establish appropriate inventory targets aligned with demand and working‑capital objectives.  

  • Evaluate make‑versus‑buy options.  

  • Manage inter‑company allocation of common product supply and demand to support cross‑site financial objectives. 

  • Support order and RFQ reviews for large or critical customer requests by assessing capacity feasibility and potential impacts.  

  • Monitor outside‑service vendor capacity to ensure external processing aligns with production schedules and business needs.  

  • Maintain accurate planning data in the ERP/MRP system and update capacity models and planning parameters as required.  

  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for capacity and lead‑time impacts and adjust planning assumptions to reflect design or process changes.  

  • Support site‑level planning and operational metrics through capacity‑related reporting and analysis. 

 

Job Competencies & Qualifications: 

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex operational data.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and influence cross‑functional stakeholders at all levels.  

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.  

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel; experience with data visualization tools preferred.  

  • Ability to balance short‑term operational needs with long‑term capacity and business objectives.  

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, lead‑time drivers, and general supply chain concepts. 

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive decisions through data. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field; CPIM or similar certification preferred. 

  • In lieu of a degree, 5–7 years of relevant experience required, including at least 3–5 years in production planning, capacity planning, or materials planning within a manufacturing environment. 

  • Aerospace or defense industry experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (AS9100) preferred. 

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting/visualization tools required. 

  • Lean or Six Sigma training/certification preferred. 

  • Up to 10% travel is required.
