The Materials Research Engineer supports product development, materials testing, and R&D process improvement through hands-on technical execution under the guidance of more senior engineers. This entry-level role assists with laboratory testing, data collection and analysis, technical documentation, and cross-functional support to help advance product capabilities and improve R&D methods.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with conducting materials analysis to support product development and performance improvement efforts.
  • Support research and evaluation of new applications, technologies by preparing test plans with guidance, executing tests, and documenting results.
  • Provide technical input (test data, observations, summaries) to engineering business partners as requested, under direction of senior team members.
  • Partner with local engineering teams on product design, development, and implementation.
  • Support simulation and analysis activities (e.g., Finite Element Analysis) as needed.
  • Contribute to development and improvement of R&D lab testing processes and methodologies.
  • Support product design, characterization, and preparing technical reports and test summaries.
  • Support troubleshooting technical issues, supports problem-solving efforts across projects, and escalates as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% required.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science preferred)
  • 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in materials science, product development, or design engineering preferred
  • Prior experience supporting cross-functional engineering or R&D environments is a plus
  • Strong understanding of materials science fundamentals
  • Experience or exposure to 3D modeling/design tools
  • Working knowledge of FEA simulation and other analysis tools, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable insights
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with broader project initiative
