Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide oversight to ensure that programs are conducted in accordance with the academic policies of the university and program accrediting bodies 
• Launch new academic programs, certificates, and continuing education events to provide outstanding and future-oriented educational experiences 
• Oversee development and management of the Division budget with a focus on achieving revenue goals and effectively managing expenditures 
• Serve on community and state health-related boards and committees with the goal of developing strong connections in the public sphere 
• Lead and manage faculty including recommendations for hire/dismissal, annual performance reviews, and loading
• Maintain intellectual vitality including presentations at state, regional, and national levels and producing relevant academic content for the purpose of representing Indiana Wesleyan University's Division of Nursing to the political and professional world 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

• A doctoral degree in Nursing, Nursing Education or a related field

Experience

• Five (5) years' full-time experience in nursing education
• Three (3) years' in a nursing leadership role
• Administration experience in an accredited program, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is preferred

Required Skills

• Consistent with IWU’s intentional development of a culturally diverse community, the
• Dean of Nursing must have a record of demonstrating a culturally responsive and sensitive
  demeanor in working in an academic community that is diverse
• The Dean of Nursing must have demonstrated ability in college level teaching (preferably
  online and onsite), particularly with adult learners
• A knowledge of future trends in nursing and an inclination toward integrative health care,
  informatics, or entrepreneurship in nursing
• Demonstrated ability to network with business professionals is required
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial ventures preferred
• Knowledge of principles and practices of professional training and development program
  design as they apply to the Nursing program
• Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional method theory and practical
  applications
• Ability to bring faculty together for common cause and student success
• Ability to act as a spokesperson for the division and/or college as required to area hospitals
  agencies, other community activities, and state, regional and national organizations.
• A demonstrated ability to work effectively with other college and university faculty
• Experience managing and leading an academic Nursing Division
