Job Title: Adjunct Faculty of Photography

Reporting Relationship: Chair, Division of Art + Design

Department: Art + Design

Campus Location: Beard Art Center - Marion, Indiana 

Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system)
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Candidates will ideally hold a graduate degree in the field of photography. Substantial professional experience in the subject(s) to be taught may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree

Experience

  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required
  • Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of liberal learning, as well as an educational philosophy based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and the integration of faith and learning

Required Skills

  • Candidates must be able to provide course instruction in one or more of the following areas: film and darkroom skills, digital-based capture and output, medium- and large-format camera technique, studio lighting, documentary photography, concept-based photography, alternative non-silver processes, and history and theory of photography
