Summary of Position: The Coordinator of Recruitment’s primary goal is to increase enrollment in an assigned geographic territory for IWU Marion. This is accomplished by engaging high school students and through establishing relationships with influencers that can be leveraged for recruitment and creating opportunities to engage students in events on campus as well as off campus. The secondary goal is to assist with the growth of Wesleyan student by cultivating relationships with pastors that lead to engagement opportunities on campus and off campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment of students in an assigned territory
Meet or exceed enrollment goals through sustained effort
Develop a plan for managing the assigned territory that reflects an understanding of demographic, economic, and cultural nuances
Monitor and adjust strategy to help meet historic benchmarks for yield and acceptance percentage
Meet with and host prospective students and their guests when visiting campus, including campus tours, hosting them for meals and chapel, walking them to appointments, etc.
Manage files of applicants and provide regular outreach to assist with next steps and update the family on opportunities at IWU
Meet or exceed campus visit goals for the assigned territory
Assist other counselors with meeting their goals
Provide successful handoff of matriculated students
Institutional Relationships and Representation
Coordinate recruitment efforts with student service areas, academic programs and other units (e.g. athletics, honors college, etc.)
Maintain updated knowledge of IWU programs, services, expectations, culture, etc. (e.g. new majors, chapel program focus, co-curricular experiences, student services processes)
Communicate the value of a Christ-centered education in a manner that recognizes potential students come from diverse theological backgrounds
Understand and effectively communicate the cost of attendance along with the return on investment of an IWU degree
Represent all university values without discrimination
Wesleyan Church Development
Cultivate opportunities in local churches to have Indiana Wesleyan presented to high school students and their families
Create and promote on campus events to invite local groups (church, school, YFC, etc.)
Identify campus resources that can be used to support churches or district events when it leads to recruitment opportunity
Work with assigned churches or other organizations outside of recruitment territory to develop pipelines for enrollment
Departmental Service
Assist the Director of Admissions with other projects as assigned
Readily assist admissions team members with admissions events and needs, including visit days, assisting when team members are unavailable, etc.
Assist with other duties and tasks when needed or as assigned
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
Experience
At least five (5) years professional work experience with preference give to those in admissions, sales, case management, or marketing/communications
Previous administrative experience leading an organization and/or networking to grow and organization
Demonstration of a clear commitment to pursuing the greatest good for students and communities, including promoting student success
Demonstration of a clear commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Experience as an IWU alumnus or employee is preferred, but not required
Required Skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Exceptional communication skills across multiple mediums, including written and presentation as well as with technology (phone conversation, video chat, text, email, social media, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, friendliness/warmth, and conversation skills
Capable of operating comfortably, effectively and efficiently in MS Office systems
Good time management and organizational skills
