Job Title: Graduate Assistant for Club Softball (Part-time)

Reporting Relationship: Head Softball Coach

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Intercollegiate Athletics-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center, Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    A graduate assistant coach both leads a club team and serves as an assistant coach for an IWU varsity sport team (or provides similar work to the athletic department).


Duties and Responsibilities

  • IWU Club Team:
    • provide instruction to student-athletes in practice and game settings
    • serve as primary recruiter
    • lead discipleship opportunities
    • manage operating budget and equipment
    • schedule all practices and games
    • fulfill leadership opportunities for the team in any other way needed
    • additional duties within the IWU athletic department assigned as needed IWU Varsity Sport Program
    • provide instruction to student-athletes by showing techniques and working to improve performance during practice and games
    • provide feedback on individual workouts and group practice
    • assist in recruiting new team members and retaining current players
    • responsible for recording video footage, assessing plays
    • overseeing team travel
    • preparing for games
    • identifying skills and weaknesses
    • fulfilling other duties as needed
    • assist in leading discipleship initiatives

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current enrollment in a graduate program
