Job Description:
The Payroll Financial Analyst contributes to the fulfillment of the university's mission and vision by ensuring system functionality and compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The Payroll Financial Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited to exercising discretion and professional judgment in examining and evaluating payroll; assisting with reconciliations, recording, monitoring, and reporting to various agencies payroll-related accounts; interacting with staff to accurately and timely process payroll including review, verification, adjustments and reconciliation. Assisting Payroll Manager and Fiscal Manager in identifying and implementing continuous process improvements and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related business or technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of one year of directly-related work experience in Payroll, Accounting, Audit, or Finance with working knowledge of payroll tax rules, regulations and general accounting with problem solving and process improvement skills required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on Excel, accounting applications, system query capabilities for analyzing required
• Requires analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties and the exercise of independent thinking within the limits of policies and regulations.
• Requires strong research, communication, and customer service skills.
• Requires a “Can Do” attitude with the ability to manage multiple projects, produce high quality work within established timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
• Experience in a large university or governmental/non-profit organization preferred.
• Banner, API/Symplr and TimeClock Plus systems experience preferred.
