Job Description:
The EEG Technician Assistant I is a skilled allied health professional who performs the diagnostic testing procedures of Electroencephalograms, in various forms, including routine, critical care and LTME (Long Term Monitoring for Epilepsy). EEG is used to measure and record the electrical activity of the brain.
Applies practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the central and peripheral nervous system is required to provide care appropriate to the patients receiving an EEG test. The EEG Technician Assistant I must demonstrate clinical application, age appropriate and population specific care and theoretical knowledge consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the profession dictated by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) or American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET).
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Certified in American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation BLS. Will accept at time of new hire only American Red Cross BLS.
2. Associates degree in an Allied Health field required. May consider High School diploma or GED, with four years of relevant paid work experience as an EEG Technician in lieu of degree.
3. Physical Requirements:
a. Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision, where applicable: constant 67-100%;
b. ability to hear, with or without aides: constant 67-100%;
c. ability to orally communicate: constant 67-100%
d. good manual dexterity: constant 67-100%;
e. ability to push, pull, roll, transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally: constant 67-100%;
f. ability to stand/walk frequently: constant 67-100%;
g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently: constant 67-100%;
h. ability to perform CPR: constant 67-100%
