Job Description:

The Maintenance Repair Worker Journeyman 2 is primarily responsible for installing, repairing, or replacing doors, door frames, door hardware, and locking mechanisms. Position will also be required to perform minor maintenance and repair work including minor plumbing and electrical work, building, repair and install of materials such counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, building framework, and trim. The incumbent is responsible for meeting work schedules and service requests, by providing effective and efficient maintenance workmanship and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must possess the minimum of a High School diploma/GED
• Department of Labor or equivalent Journeyman certificate or associates degree or technical school certification and three (3) or more years related experience.
• Must have working knowledge and proven hands-on experience with door and door hardware installation, repair, and maintenance including key cutting.
• Required certifications include: Schlage/LCN Mortise Lock Servicing or equivalent; Schlage/LCN Fire Door Inspection or equivalent, IDN Locks/Door Closer Training or equivalent, BEST Small-format IC Core Certification or equivalent, and Master Keying Certification or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability under UToledo’s driving policies.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others, solve technical problems, read technical documents, and work with dexterity is required.
• An understanding of building layout, terminology, and university policy and procedures to be obtained post hire.
• Must have knowledge and skill in leadership, blueprint reading, regulations, codes, mathematics, and hand and power tool operation.
• Ability to work independently on most jobs; perform measurements and have layout skills

Communication and other skills:
• Verbal skills to communicate with other trades and work control.
• Must possess verbal and written communication skills necessary to provide excellent customer service to staff, faculty, students, patients, family members, and management.
