As the assistant manager of the Gutstein Gallery, you will ensure the aesthetic of the galleries and the SCAD brand by maintaining the visual presentation of the artwork. You will ensure that all works are accurately priced, labeled, and placed in inventory. You will process all new fine art in the POS system, relay all customer requests or commissions to SCAD Art Sales or the Gutstein team in a timely manner, and maintain updated vendor information. You will remain knowledgeable about works and artists on exhibit. You will also create a wall map for visitors to view on tablets.

In this role, you will meet with the gallery manager weekly to discuss sales, issues, ideas, commissions, and needs. You will assist with the hiring process and train staff to ensure that all job duties are fulfilled, including, but not limited to, greeting customers, providing information about artwork and artists, answering phones, creating wall labels, straightening up, and performing light cleaning. You will also complete daily sales reports, process bank deposits, and liaise with the accounting team. Additionally, you will support gallery events by opening or closing at various times, receiving or meeting teams, submitting work orders, and posting signage.

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's degree
• At least two years of retail experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

• Driver's License

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
