As a foundation studies professor, you will prepare students to advance to professionally tailored courses that align with their career aspirations as well as demonstrate the connection between research, drawing, design processes, and environmental and cultural influences. You will cultivate a professional, positive, and engaging classroom environment, which includes rigorous courses in drawing and design, offering students a studio experience that enhances their visual, conceptual, and creative abilities.

Your responsibilities will include modeling leadership and fulfilling teaching assignments as determined by the contact hours listed in the Employment Agreement, including syllabus design, submission, and approval; midterm grade reviews; and availability for office hours, extra help sessions, learning opportunities, and field trips. Additionally, you will conduct course and program assessments, meet grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance for each class per academic policies and regulations.      

In this position, you will support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts by contributing to the university’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. You will attend on-ground and virtual activities such as admission events, faculty councils, exhibitions, and more. Among other duties, you may participate in curriculum assessment and development meetings, accreditation support, institutional effectiveness meetings, or other publicity assignments. The person in this role will adhere to all university policies.   

Minimum qualifications:    

  • Terminal degree in a related discipline   
  • Experience in or knowledge of relevant professions    
  • At least three years of experience with storyboarding, 4D design, design drawing, and drawing in Adobe programs and manually  

Preferred qualifications:   

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level
