Join SCAD as a professor of design management and creative business leadership and guide students in transforming their passion for design into a valuable professional asset that empowers them to collaborate with major brands on projects and secure coveted internships. In this program lauded by industry, you will cultivate a professional, positive, and engaging classroom environment, modeling leadership and fulfilling teaching assignments at the graduate level as outlined by the contact hours specified in the Employment Agreement. These duties encompass syllabus design, submission, and approval; midterm grade reviews; and availability for office hours, extra help sessions, learning opportunities, and field trips. Student instruction will cover topics such as core business principles, the integration of creative thinking, design-centered approaches, accounting, and financial literacy. Additionally, you will conduct course and program assessments, meet grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance for each class per academic policies and regulations.
In this position, you will support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts by contributing to the university’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. You will attend on-ground and virtual activities such as admission events, faculty councils, exhibitions, and more. Among other duties, you may participate in curriculum assessment and development meetings, accreditation support, institutional effectiveness meetings, or other publicity assignments. Additionally, the person in this role will adhere to all university policies.
The ideal candidate will bring real-world expertise and academic insight to the classroom, bridging design, innovation, business strategy, and leadership. The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of finance, accounting, leadership, and business strategy and be prepared to teach all related business innovation concepts across Design Management and Creative Business Leadership in support of the MBI program.
Minimum qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a related discipline
- Professional experience in strategic design, consulting, innovation management, or creative business operations
- Experience in or knowledge of relevant professions
Preferred qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level
- Master of Business Administration
