As a head coach of flag football, you will analyze student-athlete performances and prepare them for athletic competitions. You will lead well-organized practice sessions, supervise instructional staff, and coordinate competitions against other respected colleges and universities. Among other duties, you will establish injury and emergency protocols, handle all team-related travel arrangements, and complete necessary paperwork. Additionally, you will develop, implement, and manage methods of instruction, assessments, and tests to evaluate the learning potential and progress of student-athletes.
In this role, you will recruit capable student-athletes who are a good fit for the university. You will also communicate with students, parents, and physicians to determine eligibility for the student-athlete program. As a head coach, you will promote retention and use strategies that help student-athletes graduate in four years and pursue rewarding careers. Among other duties, you will keep regular office hours, attend university events, and foster a positive perception of the program at all levels. Additionally, you will maintain an enthusiastic attitude toward your responsibilities and the university, creating a positive atmosphere in the athletics department.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication, budget management, and leadership abilities. They can build strong working relationships in a team-focused environment. Additionally, they show a dedication to student development.
Minimum qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a related discipline
- At least three years of advanced coaching experience
- Working knowledge of NAIA guidelines, federal regulations, and other policies governing intercollegiate athletics
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- College coaching experience
Travel required:
- 20–40%
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
