As a director of involvement events, you will collaborate with department leadership to oversee all student events and set dates for their occurrence. You will present event ideas, concepts, and décor models for approval, regularly meet with event coordinators to assign tasks, and manage the budget. Among other duties, you will manage the calendar, supervise event coordinators, and act as host, engaging with guests and staff as a representative of SCAD. Additionally, you will coordinate event meetings with all participants, monitor the use of major rental items and purchases, and determine project sites. You will also coordinate logistics and schedules for projects.

In this role, you will work with the communications team to oversee marketing, public relations, and publications that promote events. You will quickly compile expenses, process invoices, build relationships with vendors, and supervise the printing of materials. Responsibilities include developing guests lists, ensuring the timely delivery of invitations, and collaborating with the design group and special projects on event décor. Among other duties, you will manage event setups and breakdowns, coordinate security and transportation, and work with city officials to ensure all city ordinances and park policies are followed. Additionally, you will approve the catering menu, manage volunteers, and approve flower orders.

In this position, you will oversee bids and process orders for rentals, decorations, and giveaways. Responsibilities also include entertainment confirmation and rehearsal scheduling for speakers, production, and technical staff. You will work with executive writers to ensure all scripts are accurate and consistent, and you will monitor department presidential reporting. Additionally, you will coordinate with the legal team to approve contract details and SPRS for vendors. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the success of the events and the university's mission.

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Five years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Travel required:  

  • 20–40%  

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
