As a Press barista manager, you will conduct interviews with the general manager and train, schedule, and supervise work-study students. You will maintain adequate supply levels to meet business needs, perform monthly inventory counts, fulfill food and beverage supply orders, and oversee merchandising. Among other duties, you will ensure the restaurant stays clean, neat, and organized. Additionally, you will filter communications to each shift team under the guidance of the general manager, foster a positive team environment, and provide support as needed.

In this role, you will assess the café environment and key business indicators to identify issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement. You will provide coaching and guidance to the team to help meet operational goals. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of policies and procedures, the maintenance of excellent health inspection scores, and the demonstration of fiscal responsibility with an awareness of labor and food costs. At the end of each shift, you will reconcile money and complete orders.

They can stay calm during busy times and keep the store running at a high standard. They also understand and address each team member’s motivation, needs, and concerns.

Minimum qualifications:  

  • At least two years of progressively responsible café or barista experience
  • At least one year of food and beverage service experience
  • Experience directing the work of others

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Employee management experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Approval as a SCAD-authorized driver

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
