Position type: 12 Month Hourly Staff FT
Location: Savannah

As a technical production manager for all SCAD ensemble groups, you will oversee the technical aspects of performances. You will manage the traveling sound system, transport equipment to and from performances — including renting vehicles — and set up and tear down the sound system. You will tune the sound system, mix singer and band performances, and handle sound for large events, such as the Holiday Spectacular and BAM!. Among other duties, you will operate sound systems for SCAD theater events, including orientation and musicals, and record live performances. You will then mix recordings for student reels. Bee Sharps-related responsibilities include studio recording, mixing, and mastering. You will also provide audio reinforcement for full-band pre-show rehearsals.
In this role, you will hire and manage a crew for performances. You will collaborate with the director of production and the senior ensemble director to determine the optimal system setup and operation for each event to achieve the best sound quality and performance. Among other duties, you will service technical resources to keep equipment operational and mentor the individual in the audio student scholarship position. You will also meet with various teams, departments, and outside rental groups and production companies to assess needs and prepare cost sheets for rentals and events. Additionally, you will regularly inventory and maintain equipment.
The candidate is skilled in operating audio systems and must have experience with production work for live concerts or theatrical events and in a recording studio (multitrack recordings and mixing down tracks). This position will demand many nights and weekends. It may occasionally require 60–80-hour weeks, including 12–18-hour days, depending on bookings, events, and concert schedules.
