Assistant Director, SCADhome Atlanta Communities
Job no: 502361
Position type: 12 Month Salaried Staff FT
Location: Atlanta
Division/Equivalent: Chief Human Resources Officer
School/Unit: SCADhome
Categories: Residential Life and Housing
As an assistant director of SCADhome communities, you will supervise and mentor between 40 and 50 SCADhome office assistants (OA) using a structured group advising model. You will coordinate the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of student staff each academic year and schedule OAs across all SCADhome offices and concierge desks to ensure adequate coverage. Responsibilities include approval of student time sheets, the assurance that all student employment expectations and requirements are met, and the facilitation of regular staff meetings, professional development sessions, and in-service trainings. Additionally, you will support student staff development through coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing mentorship. You will also maintain student staff employment documentation and support performance management processes.
In this role, you will coordinate operational planning for SCADhome Atlanta initiatives including major projects, departmental processes, and operational improvements. Among other duties, you will develop and maintain systems for project tracking, timelines, and coordination across SCADhome teams while collaborating with internal partners to support cross-departmental projects affecting residential students. Similarly, you will assist with strategic planning efforts and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency. You will also plan and implement SCADhome events and initiatives designed to enhance the residential experience such as August training, quarterly in-services, staff kickoff, and an end-of-year banquet. Responsibilities include collaboration with internal partners — including student involvement, the dean of students, the Bee Well initiative, and academic departments — on programs for residential communities to ensure events align with SCADhome values that support student connection, belonging, and engagement.
In this position, the completion of regular office checks and building walkthroughs is required to ensure spaces remain organized, welcoming, and operational for students, families, and partners. You will coordinate with physical resources and other internal partners on building needs and operational improvements and assist with building openings, closings, inspections, and inventory management. Reporting to the director of SCADhome, you will ensure that all residential communities are operating at the highest standards of hospitality, safety, and service. Participation in department meetings, planning sessions, and university initiatives is required. Additionally, you will support crisis response through the SCADhome on-call rotation. Other duties may be assigned.
