Job no: 502432
Position type: Faculty Full Time
Location: Atlanta
Division/Equivalent: Chief Marketing Officer
School/Unit: SCADpro
Categories: SCADpro
As a professor for SCADpro, the university’s boutique creative consultancy, you will teach PRO 540, PRO 560, and PRO 580 as assigned while demonstrating exemplary leadership. These courses prepare students for real-world design assignments and high-performance collaborations through lectures and presentations by faculty, professional guests, industry partners, and expert staff. Courses include diverse case studies, professional presentation tips, and collaboration exercises, supplemented by robust exchanges that expand students' dialogue, discovery, and collaboration skills.
When teaching PRO 540, you will guide students as they refine their skills in effective communication, efficient management, adaptive thinking, and creative problem-solving through collaboration with peers from multiple disciplines. While focusing mainly on user-centered research for business insights in PRO 560, in PRO 580, you will lead students in contextual research, product conceptualization, development, and prototyping to enhance their ability to create compelling outcomes and engaging interactive experiences for users, under the requirements of specific industry partners that vary from quarter to quarter.
To ensure courses are taught to the highest standard, you will implement SCAD’s best teaching practices to foster a positive learning environment and advance departmental and university-wide missions and strategic goals. As a department leader, you will cultivate mutual respect among members through professionalism and collegiality. You will also elevate the team through frequent communications and meetings. Among other duties, you will forge and maintain new partnerships with professional brands and organizations and engage in industry and alumni outreach. Additionally, you will serve as an ambassador for SCADpro and promote the school at every opportunity. You may report for duty during the summer quarter as needed.
In this role, you will lead recruitment of talented students for all SCADpro projects and create and update SCADpro syllabi to enhance teaching and learning. In collaboration with academic services, you will spearhead workshops and experiences, especially for professors interested in leading future SCADpro partnerships. You will also participate in SCADpro rehearsals and coach students in professional presentation techniques. In coordination with the executive director and the SCADpro team, you will develop a strategy to elevate the department's quality and recognition within and beyond higher education. Among other duties, you will work with the admission department to recruit talented students and with the SCADpro team and industry partners to support student employment and internship opportunities.
In this partnership with academic services, you will research, develop, implement, and update educational resources to ensure alignment with instructional engagement ideals and SCAD best practices. Responsibilities include advisement on content for SCADpro collateral, including the brochure, faculty guidebook, student launch kit, posters, case studies, and more, as well as the anticipation of industry trends to incorporate them into SCADpro initiatives.
In addition to other duties and responsibilities required in the Faculty Handbook and the Employment Agreement, a professor teaches courses, as determined by contract hours, and in accordance with their credentials, the university's needs, and the signed Employment Agreement. The university, in its sole discretion, may assign the professor to a teaching or non-teaching position as stipulated in the employment agreement.
