As a SCAD photography retoucher, you will receive assignments from the senior digital artist and adhere to a strict schedule to meet deadlines for assigned jobs. You will ensure that every image file follows the department's naming conventions and production workflow, approaching your assignments with enthusiasm, creativity, and professionalism. Among other duties, you will treat each photograph as if it were to be printed in the university catalog and submit all finished jobs to the senior digital artist in a timely manner, on or before the due date and time. Responsibilities include promptly processing all assignments per specifications, attending weekly departmental meetings with the photography team, and maintaining an orderly work area and studio space at the end of each workday. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisors to support the university's mission.
The ideal candidate has strong time management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. They use a professional approach to meet deadlines, remain receptive to feedback, and juggle multiple projects. The candidate pays close attention to detail and demonstrates an accurate sense of color and knowledge of color adjustments. They can collaborate with other retouchers on large-scale projects or events, demonstrating an enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated attitude. The candidate can learn and adapt to SCAD standards and techniques. Additionally, they will manage image batches and maintain consistent quality standards.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, Bridge, Camera Raw, and related retouching tools and plugins
- Familiarity with or willingness to use a Mac in combination with a Wacom Cintiq tablet
- Experience with or willingness to use productivity tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Slack, and ClickUp
- Overnight and weekend availability during peak seasons
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in retouching museum exhibition documentation
- Ability to accurately represent artwork while enhancing and presenting museum environments in an inviting and refined manner
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
