As a member of the library services team based in historic Savannah, Ga., you will directly support the academic and creative needs of talented students. To carry out the library’s mission — supporting art and design education by extending the boundaries of library resources and services tailored to the unique needs of the SCAD community — you’ll provide research services and innovative library instruction to groups and individuals studying at SCAD Lacoste and enrolled via SCADnow.

As a global librarian, you will:

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to connect student needs to relevant literacy, research resources, and skills through synchronous and asynchronous instruction
  • Coordinate virtual instruction bookings
  • Provide research and reference assistance in-person and virtually to students, faculty, staff, and alumni, with a focus on customer service and thorough communication
  • Plan and implement out-of-class programs that promote library resources and services
  • Coordinate technology, recording, and resource maintenance for workshops and events

To support library services, you’ll:

  • Collaborate with a collections strategy librarian to gather and evaluate feedback on current and potential library electronic resources
  • Research and identify eBook acquisitions
  • Develop, maintain, and lead initiatives for asynchronous resources, including tutorials, LibGuides, and teaching materials
  • Participate in library projects and perform other duties as assigned

Candidates should have:

  • Current knowledge in libraries to address general and subject-specific information resources and effective search strategies
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge about emerging technologies that support reference, research, and instructional services
  • An ability to proactively identifies opportunities to advance department, library, and SCAD goals

Minimum qualifications:      

  • An ALA-accredited MLS degree
  • At least two years of experience

Preferred qualifications:      

  • Undergraduate degree in a discipline taught at SCAD
  • Prior experience working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff in an academic library environment

Travel required:  

  • Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
