As a technical production lead, you’ll maintain all theater equipment at Trustees Theater and Lucas Theatre for the Arts, SCAD Savannah’s premier venues for performances, screenings, and talks. Trustees Theater, located on Broughton Street, is a state-of-the-art historic landmark dating back to Hollywood's golden age. Lucas Theatre for the Arts is an architectural marvel nestled around the corner from its counterpart in downtown Savannah.

To support the theater teams, you’ll:

  • Assist the director of production in creating precise technical drawings and visually compelling design renderings
  • Help plan and implement events for SCAD departments, theaters, festivals, rental clients, production companies, and promoters at theaters and other location
  • Operate sound, lighting, projection, and other technical systems for theater events throughout the year, especially during major SCAD initiatives
  • Ensure all technical equipment is serviced and maintained to ensure reliable, continuous operation
  • Maintain all aspects of theater productions to ensure compliance with theater, SCAD, and industry standards

As a technical production lead, you’ll:

  • Assist the technical director and the director of production for the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and TVfest in managing technical operations before and during their respective weeks
  • Perform regular inventory checks and maintenance on all equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Order necessary expendable stock for productions to meet operational needs
  • Operate lighting, sound, and projection equipment with proficiency and precision
  • Occasionally drive large trucks loaded with production gear over long distances

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Create work orders for SCAD productions and events
  • Collaborate with the creative director of production to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of production quotes and invoices
  • Travel domestically and internationally to manage and operate production for university initiatives and events

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or comparable work experience
  • At least five years of technical and production work experience
  • Experience in production work for live theatrical events, especially in lighting, sound, and projection operations
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to lift at least 75 lbs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in managing or producing live theatrical events
  • Experience in ETC lighting and sound design
  • Experience with digital audio consoles and audio mixing
  • Experience with Digital Cinema Projection Systems
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Keynote/PowerPoint

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport

Travel required:   

  • 20–40% 

 Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
