Position Title: Intramural Sports Official

Position Summary: Intramural officials are responsible for officiating and scorekeeping Intramural contests. Intramural events that require officials are flag football, volleyball, outdoor soccer, basketball, indoor soccer, and softball.  Additionally, this position is responsible for the daily operations of the Rock Wall facilities. Student staff ensures the safety of participants, maintenance of equipment, and records of climbers at the rock wall. 

Essential Functions:
• Attend all required clinics and training meetings 
• Complete and pass with 100% all necessary rules and policies tests 
• Assist Intramural Supervisor with the set-up and tear-down of all necessary equipment 
• Keep track of all Intramural issued equipment for your designated game area 
• Complete all necessary reports (ex: injury reports, accident reports, sportsmanship reports), including sportsmanship ratings for each contest officiated 
• While officiating, all officials are expected to hustle, maintain the proper officiating mechanics, take full control of the game and its participants, and take each game as a singular event 
• While scorekeeping, mark and verify the paper score sheet prior to posting scores to the scoreboard and ensure that all team members present have checked in and signed both the score sheet and roster sheet 
• Review Intramural Policies and individual event rules regularly 
• Assist in Rock Wall instruction and operations 
• Provide Rock Wall equipment check out and maintenance 
• Enforce program area rules and policies 
• Maintain understanding of proper emergency procedures 
• Create a fun climbing experience for participants 
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications:
• Must be a student at Washburn University that is currently enrolled or pre-registered in classes holding at least part-time status 
• Must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA and maintain throughout employment with the SRWC 


Physical Requirements:
Attend all meetings, in-services, and trainings, unless for an academic or military purpose 
Not work more than 20 hours in a week while classes are in session. (Applies to all positions within campus employment). 

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work in 2 hour time blocks between 8am-3pm Monday-Friday
Knowledge and experience in officiating and playing various sports 
Effective customer service experience. 
Prior climbing experience.
