Position Summary: Upward Bound is looking for a Summer Academy Night Hall Monitor to ensure safety, well-being, and policy compliance for participants in Upward Bound's six week summer educational programs.

Essential Functions:
-During overnight hours ensure the safety, well-being, and policy compliance of all high-school participants in Upward Bound's six-week summer educational program.
-Provide nightly room checks at curfew, floor monitoring, and emergency response (when applicable).
-Communicate with the Student Leader Supervisor at the beginning and end of each shift to share relevant information.
-Notify on-call Upward Bound program staff and complete incident form if violations of Washburn or Upward Bound policies occur.
-Contact the Washburn Police department if after-hour emergencies arise.
-Participate in staff orientation.
-Other job relevant duties as assigned by the Student Leader Supervisor or Upward Bound Director.

Required Qualifications:
-Junior class standing at Washburn University by the end of the Spring 2025 Term with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
-Must be 21 years of age or older.
-Must be available to work night shifts during the six-week summer program.
-Experience working both independently and within a team.
-Must be a U.S. citizen.
-Demonstrated maturity in use of appropriate leadership, communication, social, and role modeling.
-English proficiency (verbal, reading, and writing).
-CPR/First-Aid certified, Washburn Upward Bound will pay for certification to successful applicants.

Physical Requirements:
-May 28-30 (training); June 1 - July 11 (Summer Academy).
-Work days - Sunday evening through Thursday evening. (Participants and Leaders go home every Friday afternoon and return Sunday evenings).
-Must be committed to working six weeks night shift from 11:00pm to 7:00am.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with university residence hall policies and procedures.
-Experience with conflict resolution.
-Valid driver's license.
-One year of experience working with low-income, first generation students.
-Bilingual skills highly desired.

Full time, Sun-Thurs, 10pm-6:30am
