Position Summary: The Student Office Assistant provides clerical support and assists with projects for the Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. The Student Office Assistant will perform a combination of routine and non-routine tasks that require on-the-job training and/or specialized skills, and will demonstrate professionalism and good communication skills.

Essential Functions:
Provide direct clerical support to the staff of the Aleshire Center.
Serve as a receptionist when needed.
Provide customer service to students, visitors, staff, and faculty.
Input, edit, and maintain data in spreadsheets and programs (such as Microsoft Excel).
Prepare and organize materials for meetings and activities.
Prepare mailings.
Represent the Aleshire Center at recruitment and/or enrollment events as requested.
Responsible for daily office tasks (answering phones, making copies, greeting guests, cleaning office space, etc.)
Serve as a campus resource for other students.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:
Provides indirect support to student leadership of the Aleshire Center.
Conduct internet research, when requested.
Works at least 2 hours or more; increments of availability between 9:00am and 4:30pm.
Work in the Aleshire Center student office as required and scheduled with the Office Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:
Must be a current Washburn University student.
Skilled in programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Canva, and able to learn other programs as needed.
Be able to manage time to complete necessary tasks.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Effective communication skills - grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading for corrections as well as proper and timely replies as needed.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and initiative and work independently on assigned projects.
Willing to learn about the Aleshire Center's curricular and co-curricular programs, and projected activities of the Aleshire Center.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Canva, and other software programs currently popular with social media as well as editing documents and photos.
Plans to be involved in the Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement.

Hourly, Part time, Mon-Fri.
