The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising is responsible for managing a team of Financial Aid Advisors and student employees between the Washburn and Washburn Tech campuses. This position collaborates with departments across campus to ensure students receive clear and accurate information promptly. This may include managing outreach efforts, one-on-one appointments, and training.
Essential Functions:
Supervise a team of Financial Aid Advisors and student employees.
• Educate and advise students and their families regarding financial aid policies, processes, and aid programs.
• Resolve escalated student financial concerns
• Organize Financial Aid presentations and other events
• Create videos, handouts, and communications to promote FAFSA completion and advise on other student financial aid topics.
• Monitor trends and developments in financial aid to identify best practices that will enhance the University’s enrollment.
• Supports the Financial Aid office/staff during peak times or as requested to assist with workload or special projects.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three years of full-time work experience in financial aid, higher education, or customer service.
Experience developing and delivering presentations to targeted groups.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Experience resolving student or customer issues while providing effective customer service
Experience working with an integrated software system such as Ellucian Banner.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience advising students in Financial Aid.
Supervisory experience.
Master's degree.
Exempt, Full time,Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
