Position Title: Assistant Coach, Golf Men's and Women's

Department: Golf

Advertised Pay: $35,000

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the general leadership of the men’s and women’s golf teams. This includes coaching, scheduling practices, travel, fundraising, and recruiting. The employee is expected to conduct all assigned tasks in a manner that supports program compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and Washburn University policies, rules, and regulations.

Essential Functions:
• Assist with coaching and building Golf athletes’ abilities.
• Assist Head Coach with practice plans and scheduling, budgeting funds, tournament travel and plans, ordering gear and equipment needed, and anything else to help the program.
• Responsible for scouting and recruiting quality student athletes to the program, adhering to NCAA, MIAA, and University policies.
• Monitors individual student athletes’ academic progress and works with individual athletes, faculty, and staff to address concerns to help athletes maintain academic achievement and NCAA eligibility.
• Assists the Head Coach with administrative duties which may include but are not limited to:
o Schedules competitions with courses and other tournaments,
o Makes team travel arrangements,
o Logs Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA) hours, and
o Assists Athletics staff to ensure scholarships awarded are in place for the student athletes.
• Attends conferences and workshops, researches publications, etc., to remain apprised of University, MIAA, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and experience coaching and/or participating in Golf
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Driving record acceptable by the University's standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree.
• Collegiate participation in Golf.
