Position Summary: The Assistant Dean, Curriculum, Programs, and Grants is responsible for developing and overseeing the development of curriculum, online and distance learning, assigned programs, grants, and assessment of credit programs and student learning at Washburn University Institute of Technology (WIT).

Essential Functions:
• Work with technical instructors and the Strategic Analysis Research and Reporting group to revise curriculum as necessary to ensure alignment; with state initiatives and accrediting/certifying bodies and organizations;
• Participate in Advisory Board meetings identifying program changes as needed in collaboration with appropriate staff;
• Coordinate and lead the WIT Curriculum Committee to ensure curricular changes are appropriately proposed, reviewed, and approved;
• Comply with regulatory requirements (i.e. Kansas Board of Regents and the Washburn University Board of Regents) pertaining to curriculum and work with the appropriate staff to ensure that WIT follows Higher Learning Commission (HLC) criteria;
• Coordinate articulation agreements with Washburn University;
• In partnership with the Sponsored Projects Office, coordinate WIT grant applications, compliance, and reporting; Manage assigned programs and projects ensuring quality results and budget oversight;
• Supervise, support, and manage assigned staff to maximize employee performance and facilitate professional growth. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of assigned staff. Provide appropriate feedback and professional development opportunities encouraging staff to work toward individual and department goals. Work to maintain a healthy and fair work environment by promoting teamwork and collaboration.
• Address concerns and complaints involving instructors, staff, and students of assigned programs and projects;
• Work with staff to update the WIT website with updated curriculum information (i.e. syllabus, technical standards, and cost sheets);
• Assist with the annual revision and update of the WIT Course catalog;
• Coordinate the WIT Assessment and Program Review Committee; manage the communication and paperwork necessary to ensure assessment plans are developed, reviewed, and monitored;
• Responsible for directing and implementing the full range of online academic activities and duties necessary for the operation and ongoing development of online academic initiatives and programs;
• Support the implementation of new programs and innovative digital learning initiatives;
• Facilitate day-to-day operations and assessment. And management of tasks associated with online and distance learning, including student records, enrollment, and course scheduling;
• Provide oversight of instructors and technical support and training for online and distance instruction and course development;
• Develop and implement procedures associated with the online and distance learning management system and other tools to ensure standardization among disciplines and courses; and
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in educational administration, educational leadership, assessment, curriculum and instruction or related field.
• Three years of program or curriculum assessment experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in educational administration, educational leadership, assessment, curriculum and instruction or related field.
• Employment experience in career and technical education (CTE).
• Teaching experience at a community college or technical school.
• Experience providing professional development to faculty relevant to both online and face-to-face instruction.
• Experience implementing distance-learning initiatives and/or creating a strategic vision for integrating new technologies for better learning outcomes for students.
• Demonstrated experience with one or more of the major Learning Management Systems (i.e. D2L, Canvas, Blackboard).

Full-time, Mon-Fri, 7:30am - 4:30pm
