General Summary
Coordinate student services and student support activities in general.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and assess appropriate student support programming, co-curricular learning experiences, and extra-curricular student enrichment opportunities to address student needs and meet college student success goals.
Coordinate college scholarship and external student funding programs, including recruitment, application, review, dissemination, and assessment.
Assist with outreach and recruitment activities, including but not limited to representing the college in recruitment events at EMU and externally.
Identify and assist students who are struggling to meet academic expectations and requirements.
Coordinate all aspects of advising for current and prospective students in collaboration with University advisors, including direct advising of students that are not served by University advising.
Coordinate state licensure/certification for students and academic programs.
Monitor and update student information in college quality assurance and information systems, including college, university, and state data systems. Support college accreditation procedures.
Utilize department, college and university information systems to monitor and track relevant departmental and/or university data for student success. Prepare reports as necessary in support of unit goals.
Maintain collaborative and cooperative relationships with related university offices (e.g., registrar, advising, financial aid, admissions, graduate studies, etc.) and academic programs/departments in the college.
Participate with the college administration to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the college’s student success strategy.
Attend and participate in academic unit (i.e., college) meetings, committees, task forces, and advisory boards, etc., as appropriate.
Perform related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Familiarity with fields of study and practice represented in the college and demonstrated competency in administrative practices, critical thinking, and communications as typically acquired through the completion of a master’s degree in Education, or closely related field is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of work experience at an institution of higher education or similar organization, with college-level student support/services or related area is required.
Demonstrated competency in student support program design, implementation, and assessment for and with diverse groups of students is required.
Demonstrated contributions to creating and sustaining diverse, equitable, and inclusive educational environments is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theory and practice as acquired through the completion of a master's degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to assess programs and use data to inform decision-making is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate student learning and development philosophy into services and programs is preferred.
Knowledge of Michigan educator preparation, counselor education, and/or speech and language pathology licensure/certification is preferred.
