General Summary
The School of Information Security & Applied Computing (SISAC) in the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) invites applications for a School Director position. SISAC, as a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Education by the National Security Agency. The school offers undergraduate degree programs in Cybersecurity and Information Technology (IT). In addition, the school offers a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and a doctoral degree in Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidates will be:
• Administering and directing the developmental, personnel, financial, and operational activities of the School in collaboration with faculty. • Preparing and monitoring the departmental budget for personnel services, supplies, maintenance, and equipment, as well as other grants and contracts. • Ensuring alignment of departmental goals with college and university goals. • Providing departmental leadership in the development of new initiatives/programs and revision of existing ones. • Evaluating faculty performance for tenure, promotion, and salary adjustment recommendations to the Dean of the College. • Planning, developing, and scheduling departmental course offerings, advising students and supporting faculty regarding such matters as curricular requirements, transfer of courses. • Undertaking outreach initiatives to two-year colleges for articulation agreements. • Managing availability of classes and academic problems and/or grievances. • Recruiting and interviewing prospective faculty. • Advising and assisting the College Dean in program and policy development. • Administering and managing school resources. • Participating in local, national, and professional associations to continue academic development and promote the University. • Establishing and maintaining public relations activities with governmental, educational, civic, and community agencies. • Cultivating alumni and other donor connections to garner financial support for departmental projects and programs. • Approving school listings in graduate and undergraduate catalogs, • Consulting with department faculty at periodic staff meetings and as needed. • Administering collective bargaining master agreements, • Teaching a school course or equivalent during one or more semesters. • Performing related departmental duties as required, Providing mentorship and support to tenure track faculty in teaching, service, and research/scholarly activities. • Building research teams to target high-valued research opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate for this position should have:
• A Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and qualified for a tenured Associate or Full professor rank in one of the programs in SISAC. • Experience in curriculum development and experience with leading accreditation, such as NSA CAE, ABET, or others. The candidate will lead accreditation/assessment activities. • Experience as a director or department head for a team of cybersecurity (or related discipline) faculty for multiple years with an excellent track record and outstanding faculty testimonials. • Experience (4-5 years) successfully leading a related program, especially in Cybersecurity, preferably at both undergraduate and graduate levels. • Experience in hiring, evaluating, and mentoring full-time and part-time faculty. • Experience in supporting undergraduate and graduate programs in related fields. • Commensurate record of academic or professional accomplishments. • Proven success in working collaboratively to advance academic programs with high interpersonal skills and professionalism. • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom and a commitment to cultivating a climate in the school where students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds can thrive. • Experience with modern Cybersecurity curriculum, preferably having taught Cybersecurity courses. • Experience in recruiting and retaining Cybersecurity students. • Experience in service at various university levels, such as college council, faculty senate, etc. • Experience in grant submission processes, supporting faculty pursuing grants, and/or managing external funding • Background and qualification to be a tenured professor in one of the programs in the school. • Records of successful academic and administrative leadership in the computing field in higher education academic institutions. • High-quality teaching records with innovative instructional materials and technologies, including course, lab, and program development. • Records of leading high-valued research teams and programs in their research field. • Strong background in managing personnel and resources, including leading faculty. • Strong communication skills and awareness of principles of shared governance in a collective bargaining environment. • Records of strong and successful student and faculty recruitment efforts. • Outstanding references/testimonials from faculty that the candidate has managed in the past, if applicable.
