General Summary

The Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Graduate Assistant supports the Coordinator for FSL in planning and implementing student activities programs and leadership development programs for chapters and their members. The Graduate Assistant also supports the development of all FSL educational programming through individual advising, tracking and maintaining organization data and records, offering training and resource materials, managing marketing strategies and materials, attending pertinent meetings, etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-advise the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and College Panhellenic Association (CPA) in all endeavors and activities to promote learning, values congruence, risk management, and personal and organizational development.
  • Assist with recruitment and intake efforts when appropriate.
  • Provide support and oversight for councils, chapters, and student employees.
  • Complete and compile statistics, semester grade reports, and other community data as assigned.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of community initiatives and events.
  • Keep FSL organization records, database, and website updated and accurate.
  • Track and maintain data & records, databases, semesterly grade reports, and regularly update the FSL website.
  • Assist in the coordination of the annual evaluation process for the Standards of Excellence Program and the FSL Awards Ceremony. 
  • Assist in the annual AFLV Awards Assessment Process for IFC, CPA, MGC and NPHC Council Members.
  • Supervise two undergraduate student assistants.
  • Coordinate student organization registration process, council officer transitions, and officer training for all FSL councils.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned to support Fraternity & Sorority Life and other Campus Life programmatic efforts (e.g. Eagle Fest, Homecoming, Campus Life Staff Retreat, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience working with diverse groups of students.

Effective interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, verbal communication skills, event planning and management skills.

Knowledge of fraternal organizations and/or membership in a fraternity or sorority is req.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current graduate student who is pursuing a Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, education, counseling, or related field, is preferred.

Tuition Waiver of 18 credit hours that may be used over the course of three semesters (fall/winter/summer) of the same academic year.

Compensation:

This position begins in May at a summer hourly pay of $15/hour and transitions in fall/winter semesters to stipend pay $4,500/semester.
