General Summary

Eastern Michigan University is seeking qualified instructors to teach Fall 2025 TESOL and/or ESL courses.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The primary professional responsibility of the Employee is teaching. Employees are expected to develop and maintain their professional skills in order to ensure high quality education for their students.

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related departmental duties as required.

Qualified candidates may also be asked to cover for absent professors in the BA-TESOL program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for lecturers hired to teach TESOL courses include an MA in TESOL or related field and ABD in a related field.

Minimum qualifications for lecturers hired to teach ESL include an MA in TESOL or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

For ESL Lecturers prior experience teaching at the tertiary level is preferred.
