General Summary
Provide assistance to the Director in administering the programs and initiatives of the Institute for STEM Education, Outreach, and Workforce Development.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Perform project design, evaluation, market or scholarly research, contract development and management, curriculum development, supervising other personnel and budget oversight and management related to all projects.
Coordinate the day-to-day operations and manage programs and initiatives related to STEM education, outreach and educational pathways/workforce development.
Coordinate communications, meetings, conferences, work groups, and other events both internal and external to the College and University. Secure necessary facilities, vendors, and services for meetings, conferences, and events.
Contribute to daily and long-term operations of STEM outreach which includes development of market analysis, vendor relations including contract management, engagement and outreach with academic departments, school districts, and community-based programs.
Build and maintain positive relationships with academic and administrative units within the University
Conduct administrative duties as needed including managing other personnel and supervising their professional activities.
Supervise professional staff and student assistants, and manage a balanced department budget consistent with University policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
At least three (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas is required: STEM Education, Community-engaged curriculum development and culturally-relevant pedagogy, Educational outreach and community partnerships, Externally funded grants and sponsored programs in education.
Communication skills are required, including the ability to draft public and interpersonal communications such as announcements, invitations, and newsletters for both internal and external audiences.
Appreciation, demonstrated ability, and record of contribution to inclusive education and workplaces, including demonstrable support and understanding of diversity initiatives in higher education.
Must be a strong collaborator and communicator who is able to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively. Has the ability to bring out the best in the people and projects they oversee.
Able to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with degrees in the following fields are preferred: Education and/or STEM fields.
Knowledge and experience of P-20 education is preferred, including state and district education agencies and/or research-practice partnerships.
