Resident Assistants (RAs) are assigned to individual floors or communities and are members of the Residence Life staff. RAs facilitate student integration to the campus community, guide students as they make meaning of their collegiate experience, and help all students become the best versions of themselves. RAs are student leaders that wish to make a positive impact on the university campus. The RAs assist is resolving student conflicts to maintain positive living environments and refer students to appropriate campus resources. RAs assist with maintaining safety and security in the halls by enforcing policy, conducting walkthroughs of the building, and responding to calls. Resident Advisors are expected to show a strong understanding of Eastern Kentucky University residence hall structure, policies, and procedures. Ideally, RAs should have the following aptitudes: to communicate well in a group and individual situations; to establish a connection with a wide variety of students; to implement experiences to meet particular goals, and to quickly evaluate crises and respond properly. Compensation for this position includes a payed stipend per semester and a credit to your student account to cover on-campus housing.
