ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to work FIFO and join our team based Barrow Island, supporting the delivery of our civil and infrastructure projects at Barrow Island.
As the Surveyor, you will report to the Geospatial Manager and play a key role in providing accurate and reliable surveying support throughout all phases of project delivery. You will be responsible for conducting field surveys, interpreting design data, preparing as-built documentation, and ensuring all surveying activities align with project specifications, safety standards, and client expectations. This role is critical in ensuring precision in construction, minimising risk, and supporting the successful execution of complex marine works.
ABOUT BARROW ISLAND
Barrow Island is located around 60 kilometres from the mainland and approximately 139 kilometres west of the Port of Dampier. It's also home to Chevron’s Gorgon Project and WA Oil operations. It is the largest oil field discovered in Western Australia. Ertech has been a major service provider to Chevron Australia’s Gorgon Project for over 10 years.
Barrow Island provides excellent on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as gym facilities (mixed and separate gyms available for men & women with a variety of fitness classes to choose from), sporting facilities including a football field, golf simulator, bike hire, 2 swimming pools, basketball court, tennis court and a cricket pitch!
Other key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Oversee and conduct field survey activities, including boundary, topographic, construction layout, as-built surveys, and End of Month reporting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to project schedules and specifications.
- Organise and lead the site survey team to meet project deadlines and HSEQ requirements.
- Manage and maintain survey equipment, ensuring proper calibration and reliability.
- Apply innovative and cost-effective surveying methods to achieve targets and improve project profitability.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to address survey-related queries, resolve issues, and provide progress updates.
- Understand project and client requirements to deliver tailored surveying solutions.
- Analyse survey data to prepare accurate maps, drawings, and reports for project planning and decision-making.
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior surveyors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, environmental requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Develop and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) in line with HSEQ requirements.
To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Tertiary study in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering or related field Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (preferred).
- Remote Pilots Licence (RePL) and Aviation Radio Operators Certificate (AROC) (desirable).
- Proven expertise in delivering complex concrete projects.
- Relevant experience within the Civil and Infrastructure industry.
- Proficiency in surveying software and equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data processing software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- MUST hold valid Australian Working Rights
