The Role
We are looking for highly motivated Machinist to work on the most exciting engine platforms in the defence sector – the legendary F/A 18 Super Hornet’s F414 engine, M1A2 Abrams’ AGT1500 Engine, and F135 engine that powers the most advanced fifth-generation fighter in the world – the F35 Lightning II.
Your duties include:
• Manual machining of high-precision aerospace components
• Operating lathes, mills, vertical borers, surface and cylindrical grinders, and other precision machinery to manufacture and repair components
• Preventative and breakdown maintenance of Ground Support Equipment
• Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with approved publications, technical data, and work instructions
• Maintaining accurate documentation of work performed and in progress
• Proactively identifying opportunities for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness
• Taking all reasonable steps to ensure your own safety and the safety of others
What we are looking for in the ideal candidate:
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances
• Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years working experience in an aviation or production machining environment, with strong machining skills
• Knowledge and experience working of airworthiness rules and regulatory requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A passion and drive to deliver to keep their customers flying
