About you

The Clinical Manager of Orthopaedic Theatres is an integral part of the Procedural Areas Leadership team. The role provides support, leadership, management and governance to the nursing and ancillary teams while working with our VMO community to provide amazing care for our patients. The applicant will provide advanced skills and knowledge to support staff and surgeons in the smooth running of lists with a focus on patient safety and best outcomes.  A core component of the role is leadership for the team within theatres as well as developing sound procurement and human resource principles. The ability to provide ongoing education to junior staff is essential to ensure success in this role. The CM of Orthopaedic Theatres is required to work in accordance with the mission and vision of Calvary and actively participate in a culture that promotes Calvary’s values.

This role is a mix of both management and clinical components with the ability to work shift work Monday to Friday and has on call requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and education to the nursing workforce
  • Ensure safe standards of practice
  • Procurement management
  • Supporting the VMOs in safe and efficient running of lists
  • Providing an orthopaedic theatre service to the community of South Australia

What you bring 

  • AHPRA Registration
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in leadership roles
  • Sound understanding of clinical standards, including upholding ACORN, Australian and ANZCA standards
  • Accountable for own standards of practice and providing support and ongoing education to junior staff
  • Experience and or an understanding of Resource Principles
  • Experience in Leadership of teams through times of change
  • Dedicated to best practice and best patient outcomes
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Calvary
