About the role
 
This Transition to Practice program focuses on training nurses from different sectors to be part of the Calvary Lenah Valley Endoscopy Unit mainly as a Scope nurse.
 

As a scope nurse in the procedure room, they are responsible in assisting the VMOs during the procedures:

  • Gastroscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • EBUS/ EUS
  • Cystoscopy

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment. With the support of a Clinical Nurse Educator/Preceptor, you will be trained to work across multiple areas, with emphasis on assisting the Gastroenterologist during the procedure (Scope Nurse). Whilst not a key component of the RN's role you will also be trained to reprocess flexible Endoscopes as a requirement for on call. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of and a demonstrated commitment to quality processes and evidence based practises
  • Consistently and enthusiastically delivers high levels of patient service to exceed patient expectations
  • Plans nursing care in consultation with individuals/ groups, significant others and the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Contribute to patient and staff safety and wellbeing by diligently managing risks and immediately reporting hazards, incidents, serious near misses, accidents, illness or injury
  • Practice in accordance with Calvary and relevant Government Health policies and procedures, the position description, Code of Conduct, industrial agreements and ANMC competencies

What you bring:

  • Registration with AHPRA and in possession of a current practising certificate
  • Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Demonstration of maintenance of CPD points
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in area of specialty if required.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders
