About the role
 
To provide a comprehensive initial assessment of symptoms, psychosocial needs and direct the ongoing care of patients referred to the palliative care services, for the Specialist Inpatient Unit at Calvary Hospital Kogarah and for patients referred to the Consultative Palliative Care Service at Sutherland Hospital.
 
About you
  • Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia - Insurance Act 1997.
  • Extensive experience working in Palliative Medicine-at least 3 years postgraduate training in this field, with FAChPM and/or FRACP.
  • Experience in management of Palliative Care patients, with demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to contemporary palliative care service provision with demonstrated knowledge of national and state priorities for palliative care services and sound clinical knowledge in Palliative Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Interest and experience in teaching and education of junior medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of participation in Continuing Medical Education, undertaking Education and self-monitoring/audit practices that support credentialing to the position and are commensurate with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  • Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
