About the role
 
We are looking for a Cook to join our team in Ryde, NSW. Working with Calvary Aged Care, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for our residents.
You will work closely with our kitchen team to ensure that our residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences, while also adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
 
Your main duties will include:
  • Assist the head chef to plan, prepare, and cook meals for residents, taking into consideration their dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to create menus that are both nutritious and appealing.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following food safety and hygiene protocols.
About you
  • Minimum 5 years experience (essential)
  • TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards) (Desirable)
  • Experience in aged care or healthcare setting (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of IDDSI and nutritional guidelines.
  • Ability to cook meals in line with planned menus
  • Completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain
  • Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
  • Ability to operate standard domestic and industrial kitchen equipment
