About the role


Based at Calvary Central Districts Hospital, this position is a Clinical Education role based in the Perioperative Department.

It is offered as a 0.8 FTE Level 3 RN Permanent position.

The Clinical Educator Periop is responsible for educating the Periop team to deliver safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment.

In collaboration with the Learning and Development Advisor, L & D Site Lead, and the Perioperative Leadership team, the Clinical Educator Periop leads and supports the periop teams in actively providing necessary learning opportunities for staff in using a variety of teaching strategies. This role will also support the Learning and Development team in the development and delivery of mandatory training, and orientation as well as developing and advancing the skills of experienced teams.

Your main duties will include:
• Planning and implementation of education programs to develop staff and build workforce capacity
• Mandatory training and competency assessments for core skills in keeping with Calvary and NSQHS standards
• Supporting, mentoring and training New Graduates, RNs undertaking their post graduate studies and new staff to the perioperative department


About you
• AHPRA Registered Nurse or Midwife
• Minimum 3 years postgraduate clinical experience in a Perioperative space, scrub scout experience is preferred.
• Post Graduate Qualification in Perioperative Nursing
• Evidence of leadership skills, with a positive “Can Do” attitude
• Ability to deliver creative, innovative & flexible education within a dynamic and changing environment
• Demonstrated high levels of communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or university education qualification or working towards
• ARC ALS Instructor is preferred
